Conference presentation

The Association of Greek Chemists and the Hellenic Association of Chemical Engineers, recognizing the potentials from the use of biotechnology in food production and processing both for the economy and consumers’ health and appraising the importance of food’s safety and quality and of the biotechnology uses and applications in the food industry and the food chain in general, organized in 2005, 2007 and 2009 with great success the first three National Conferences on Biotechnology and Food Technology. Continuing this institution, are organizing the 4th Conference at 11-13 October, 2013.
Aim of the conference is the presentation of the progress and trends in both research and applications of biotechnological methods, for the development and production of food products as well as the improvement of processing and properties/quality of food products. Moreover, the promotion of research’s achievements in the food-biotechnology interface, and the exchange of experiences from the application of biotechnology to primary production and food technology as well as the appointment of further perspectives of biotechnology in the food industry.

World-class scientists from abroad will join the works of the Congress.


The conference is open to all scientists with active research in the fields of food biotechnology/technology or to those working in the food industry on the implementation of bioprocessing and biotechnological methods of production.
